ACNC Registered Charity

Our funding

Registered in 2010, we were first able to employ staff in December 2016, with the benefit of foreign philanthropic funding. We continue to be primarily funded by Wellspring Philanthropic Fund and Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice. We have a small number of regular granters. We are profoundly grateful for this support!

We have also undertaken service agreements and small grants from the ACT Government, NSW Health, and Victorian Department of Health. The InterLink psychosocial support program is funded by Department of Social Services pilot funding for the development of sexual violence prevention resources.

As Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice has said in August 2024:

“According to Funders for LGBTQ Issues and Global Philanthropy Project, LGBTQI+ organizing receives 0.5% of global funding, and out of that less than 1% goes to intersex causes.”

We receive no funding from clinical or human rights institutions. Our voice is uniquely our own, but it remains rarely heard. Lack of resources is the primary constraint on our ability to grow our advocacy and service delivery.

Help us promote the health and human rights of people with intersex variations! Please consider donating to Intersex Human Rights Australia.

Our credentials

We are the major intersex-led community organisation in Australia. We deliver advocacy and professional and peer-led psychosocial support services. Our advocacy has had a dramatic impact.

We are recognised by the Australian Taxation Office as a charity and Public Benevolent Institution. Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

We have received Equivalency Determination status from TechSoup/NGO Source, annually renewed to 30 June. We are also certified with Benevity Causes.
