Leap Day LGBTI conference at NSW Parliament

Angelus Valentine Morningstar arranged a day of speakers on LGBTQI human rights activism at New South Wales Parliament House on Wednesday, 29 February 2012 from 9am to 5pm.

Leap day was midway through the second week of Sydney’s LGBTQI Mardi Gras 2012, the first Mardi Gras to be staged after intersex people were accepted into the fold as full and equal participants if we so choose.

We were very fortunate that on this day a number of international speakers who are actively engaged in advancing GLBTI human rights were here in Sydney to share with us their wisdom and experience.

Morgan of OII Australia presented at the event, and OII Australia’s media officer made photographs of the event. NSW Members of Parliament several parties took part as well and showed their support for the intersex-inclusive struggle for LGBTQI human rights. Justice Michael Kirby and Boris Dittrich of HRW – Human Rights Watch – made the introductory speeches. Here’s a list of all the speakers:

We thank Angelus for organising, and all the speakers and participants for attending, a really valuable event.
